The Generalitat of Catalonia has opened a deadline for the self-employed affected by the coronavirus crisis, asking for aid of up to 2,000 euros. These are the requirements that must be met to obtain benefits.

It was not until last Monday when the Department of Labor of Catalonia gave the starting gun. Since then, all the self-employed who have seen their income fall will be able to request direct help of up to 2,000 euros to alleviate the economic effects of this health crisis on their business. The Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Families, Chaquir El Homrani, explained through his social network that the aid is aimed at the self-employed "because they are one of the groups most affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The deadline for submitting the process started on Monday, April 6, and will continue until next May 5 . From the portal of the Generalitat they have already specified the conditions that self-employed workers who want to access this economic benefit must meet.
Conditions to access the service
To qualify for this aid, self-employed workers must be responsible for certain activities suspended by law and have no alternative sources of income. In addition, they must also be registered as self-employed and have residence in Catalonia.
Access to aid will be achieved through the accreditation of economic losses in the month of March 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year. These are all the access conditions:
- Having suspended economic activity as a measure derived from the application of the Royal Decree on the State of Alarm
- Having suffered a drastic and involuntary reduction in billing in the month of March 2020, compared to the same month of the previous year, as a result of the effects of COVID-19.
- The self-employed cannot have other sources of income alternative to his business . In addition, your tax base from the last declaration of disposable income must be equal to or less than 25,000 euros.
- You must be up to date with all your tax obligations , or have the corresponding resolution of extension, postponement, moratorium or any other special condition of your debts with the State, the Generalitat or Social Security.
- In the case of young people who have been beneficiaries of the aid to promote the self-employment of young people enrolled in the Youth Guarantee program for the year 2019, they can only access this aid if by March 1, 2020 the scope had already ended. temporary application of the aid granted.
In addition, they clarified from the consortium that certain groups of freelancers, such as cooperators or business partners, will be excluded from this aid. Private civil companies, property communities, owners of cooperatives or labor companies, or members of the administrative bodies of companies cannot access it.
Although it does not conflict with the unemployment capitalization, if assistance has already been requested, assistance cannot be requested, for example, abnormal cessation of activities or "any other assistance, benefit, subsidy or subsidy for the same purpose during the same period. ".
How to apply for help?
Help can now be requested through the form enabled for this purpose by the Department of Labor. In order to be a beneficiary, the self-employed person must present the following documentation before next May 6:
- An Excel document containing the Estimated Income and Expenses duly completed (G146NTA-107), as indicated in the Guide published on the Department of Labor website.
- Copy of the record book of invoices issued and received , of the journal of income and expenses, of the record of sales and income or of the book of purchases and expenses of the justified period (March 2020 and March 2019 or equivalent period).
